News: Teen facing charges in deadly single-vehicle crash near Queen Creek

PHOENIX, AZ – An 18-year-old man is facing charges in connection to a single-vehicle crash that claimed the life of another teen and left three additional teens hospitalized early Saturday.

According to a report by ABC 15, the driver of lost control when he failed to navigate a curve on Rittenhouse Road between Rigs Road and Cloud Road. The vehicle skidded into the oncoming lanes of traffic before hitting a brick wall and electrical equipment, which then sparked a fire.

One passenger, 18-year-old Caleb Rodriguez, suffered fatal injuries in the crash.

Three additional victims, ages 13, 16, and 17, were each hospitalized with various injuries.

It is unclear if the driver, 18-year-old Ezana Tessema, was injured in the crash. However, police say he is facing charges of manslaughter and aggravated assault.
