SURPRISE, AZ – Two people went to the hospital Saturday night after a wrong-way crash along the highway in central Maricopa County, reports abc15 Arizona.
Police say the incident happened around 11:29 p.m. on US-60, or West Grand Avenue, near North 163rd Avenue, which is just north of Loop 303.
The investigation thus far indicates that an eastbound vehicle entered the westbound lanes of West Grand Avenue and hit a guardrail, which broke through the front windshield of the vehicle.
Medics transported the driver to a local hospital with critical injuries to the face and upper body.
The passenger sustained non-critical injuries in the collision.
A full investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident.
