SCOTTSDALE, AZ – A driver suffered serious injuries as a result of a fiery crash on Loop 101 in Scottsdale on Thursday, AZFamily said.
Preliminary details show that before 4 a.m., a white pickup truck crashed into a concrete median wall on the freeway’s southbound lanes, causing it to catch on fire.
Scottsdale fire crews rushed to the scene and put out the pickup truck fire, and EMS crews hurried the pickup truck driver to a nearby hospital.
Authorities shut down the southbound lanes for about three hours before reopening all lanes around 7 a.m. Northbound traffic was not impacted.
The Arizona Department of Transportation, Salt River police and Scottsdale police all responded to the scene.
Authorities are actively working to determine the cause of the collision.
