News: Semi-truck strikes, kills pedestrian in south Phoenix

PHOENIX, AZ – A male pedestrian died Thursday night after an 18-wheeler struck him in the roadway at a busy intersection in south Phoenix, reports Arizona’s Family 3TV.

Police say the incident happened around 9:30 p.m. on Southern Avenue near South Central Avenue, which is just northwest of El Reposo Park.

The investigation so far indicates that a westbound semi-truck hit a man that was walking in the roadway near the intersection.

Medics transported the pedestrian to the hospital where he died from injuries sustained in the crash.

The truck driver did not sustain injuries in the collision.

A full investigation is underway.
