TONOPAH, AZ – Two men died when a semi-truck crashed into an overpass bridge on I-10 EB near 339th Ave on Thursday, according to AZFamily.
An Amazon semi-truck may have experienced a tire blowout, which caused the driver to slam into the center column of the bridge around 2 p.m. The truck then came to rest in the median.
Two people occupied the semi-truck. They were identified as Abdullahi Muhammed Abdi, 40, and Fadhi Hamdi Ali, 35. Rescue crews pronounced one of them dead at the scene, and the other person died at the hospital.
Following the collision, the area was closed for hours.
Engineers checked the bridge for damage and determined it was safe for traffic.
