News: Police investigate deadly crash in Tempe

TEMPE, AZ – The Tempe Police Department is investigating a fatal collision that happened at Rural Rd and Broadway Rd on Saturday, according to 12 News.

Derek Glasscock, 32, was driving south on Rural Rd when he crossed multiple traffic lanes before colliding with a fixed object around 1:30 a.m.

Glasscock’s had two passengers, Maria Rangel, 31, and Jesse Ruiz, 32. First responders pronounced one passenger dead at the scene and transported the other to an area hospital, where they died.

Authorities believe both speed and impairment were factors in the crash. They arrested Glasscock on multiple felony charges.
