WEST PHOENIX, AZ – Phoenix police arrested a driver after a crash that damaged a Motel 6 and left one person injured on Tuesday, AZ Family said.
Police said the incident unfolded after 9:30 p.m. off Interstate 17 and Thomas Road. A driver of a Nissan Rogue was driving recklessly and ended up plowing through a motel room, taking out an entire wall.
Police said two employees were in the parking lot and near the reckless driver prior to the crash. Fortunately, they were uninjured; unfortunately, a person inside the room was injured.
Fire crews said they had to extricate the injured person before EMS crews took them to a hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.
Police arrested the driver and booked them on aggravated assault charges.
A full investigation is underway.
