PHOENIX, AZ – Two men lost their lives Friday when they were struck by a vehicle on Loop 202 Freeway in southwest Phoenix, according to FOX 10 Phoenix.
The double-fatal incident occurred on the South Mountain span of the highway at Elliott Road.
Local police say a 77-year-old man and another man in his 40s were outside of a pickup truck that was parked on the shoulder of the road at the ramp. While trying to fill up the vehicle with gas, they were both hit by a Tesla driven by an unidentified woman.
Both male pedestrians, described as father and son, were pronounced deceased.
Officials indicated that the woman remained at the scene and did not appear to have been impaired.
An investigation remains ongoing.
