News: Pedestrian hospitalized after crash along McDowell Square 

WEST PHOENIX, AZ – A pedestrian was hospitalized for serious injuries after she was struck by a vehicle while walking outside of the McDowell Square Shopping Center Tuesday. 

The pedestrian collision was reported around 2 a.m. at the intersection of 51st Avenue and McDowell Road and warranted a response from police and EMS crews, according to AzFamily

Police said the driver, a Mexican citizen, stayed at the scene. Officers did not say whether she was cited or could anticipate criminal charges. 

Intoxication was not reported at this time. 

Officers issued a several-hour-long closure and reopened the area around 6:30 a.m. 

The pedestrian’s identity was not disclosed.
