News: Pedestrian dies after being struck by vehicle near Phoenix intersection

PHOENIX, AZ – Police and first responders were at the scene of a fatal pedestrian collision in west Phoenix early Tuesday morning, according to AZFamily.

It was reported that a man had been struck by a vehicle in the vicinity of 35th Avenue and Buckeye Road at about 1 a.m.  Preliminary information indicated that the pedestrian was hit while trying to cross the street outside the crosswalk.

Despite life-saving attempts by firefighters, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.  His identity was not immediately released.

The driver involved remained at the crash site and provided a statement to police, who do not believe the driver was impaired.

An investigation is continuing into the cause of the accident.
