CHANDLER, AZ – According to 12 News, officials have provided more details concerning the fatal crash that occurred on I-10 EB near E Queen Creek Rd on Tuesday.
An SUV driver had a tire malfunction, causing them to enter the highway and swerve into the dirt median around 6:30 a.m. The driver then re-entered the road and rolled over before being hit by a pickup truck.
Rescue transported the SUV driver to an area hospital with moderate injuries. The juvenile male in the front seat died in the crash.
Emergency crews closed the roadway to investigate the incident. The area was reopened around 10 a.m.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety is investigating the incident.
