News: Officer hits child while chasing suspect near North Mountain Village

PHOENIX, AZ – According to AZ Family, an officer responding to a police chase that ended in a crash struck a child on W Peoria Ave near N 28th Ave on Saturday.

An officer patrolled the area in a police SUV when they spotted Anthony Knox driving recklessly. Knox saw the police SUV and led officers on a chase before slamming into multiple vehicles.

An officer was responding to the crash when they collided with a child who had come from a car in the initial crash.

Rescue crews transported the child, Knox, and two men to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

Following the crash, Knox and several others fled the scene on foot. Authorities detained multiple people.

Authorities arrested Knox when he was released from the hospital on Sunday.
