News: Officer arrested for deadly hit-and-run crash on AZ 73 near Hon-Dah Casino

INDIAN PINE, AZ – A police officer allegedly fled the scene after fatally colliding with a pedestrian on AZ 73 near the Hon-Dah Casino on Nov. 23, according to FOX 10.

Police believe Josh Anderson hit Iris Billy, 30, with his patrol vehicle around 3:30 a.m. before fleeing the scene.

Authorities determined that Anderson’s vehicle had damage consistent with an auto vs. pedestrian collision and arrested him at his home in Whiteriver.

Anderson was booked into the White Mountain Apache Adult Detention Facility and charged with assault, aggravated assault, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault causing serious physical injury, criminal negligence, reckless driving, interference with an officer, death caused by a vehicle, and leaving the scene of a fatality collision.

He has submitted his resignation from the department.

The FBI is investigating the incident.
