News: Authorities arrest man for fatal Scottsdale crash in 2022

SCOTTSDALE, AZ – According to CBS 5, authorities have apprehended a man involved in a fatal crash near Paul’s Ace Hardware on N Scottsdale Rd on July 24, 2022.

Police believe Jacob Hough, 22, was driving under the influence at excessive speeds south on Scottsdale Rd when he slammed into a car driven by Donald Detzler, 94, as Detzler was turning left into Paul’s Ace Hardware. The crash caused Hough’s vehicle to change directions and collide with a USPS truck around 10:30 a.m.

Rescue crews transported Detzler and the USPS truck drier to an area hospital, where Detzler died.

Authorities arrested Hough and charged him with reckless manslaughter and endangerment.
