News: MSCO deputy hurt by red-light runner in Phoenix crash

PHOENIX, AZ – A Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office sergeant deputy was injured in a crash caused by a red-light runner on Wednesday.

The Arizona Family said the collision took place at the intersection of Indian School Road and 3rd Avenue. It was there that a driver operating a white van had run a red light and crashed into a motorcycle.

Deputies said the motorcyclist was going north on 3rd Avenue and the van driver east on Indian School Road when they collided.

EMS crews transported the on-duty motorcyclist to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries. The motorcyclist was listed in stable condition.

Law enforcement does not suspect impairment, and speed played a role in the collision.

No charges were announced at this time.
