GOODYEAR, AZ – A motorcyclist died after hitting a Goodyear police vehicle near Estrella Pkwy and W Van Buren St on Tuesday, according to 12 News.
The officer was responding to an emergency call when Jacob Vela, 38, struck the front left side of the police car.
First responders transported Vela to an area hospital, where he died. Crews took the officer to the hospital with minor injuries.
The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.
Authorities do not believe impairment played a role in the wreck.
