NORTH PHOENIX, AZ – A 33-year-old man was killed and a woman was critically hurt in a wrong-way collision that took place in North Canyon Ranch on Monday.
The crash occurred around 12:30 p.m. at the intersection of 35th Avenue and Happy Valley Road, FOX10Phoenix reports. The 33-year-old man was driving east on westbound Happy Valley Road when he crashed into another vehicle.
EMS crews were dispatched to the scene and transported the wrong-way driver and one woman, who was in the second vehicle, to a hospital. There, the wrong-way driver died. He has since been identified as Arthur Cody Lomeli.
The Phoenix Police Department has not confirmed why Lomeli was driving the wrong way. At this time, police are continuing to investigate the details behind Monday’s deadly wreck.
