TUCSON, AZ – A 64-year-old man was killed in an alleged drunk-driving accident on Aviation Parkway early Sunday morning, 13 News reports.
Tucson Police Department says the incident occurred around 3:00 am in the eastbound lanes of Aviation Parkway east of the Kino Parkway overpass.
Police believe the victim, 64-year-old Mark William Haffner, experienced a flat on his 1998 Toyota Tacoma, causing him to pull over to the right shoulder of the road. While still seated in his vehicle, he was struck by a Chevy Avalanche driven by 34-year-old Carlos Samaniego, Jr. Haffner was pronounced dead at the scene.
The TPD’s DUI Unit evaluated Samaniego, Jr., and he is believed to have been impaired at the time of the accident. He currently faces charges of second-degree murder.
