PHOENIX, AZ – A 73-year-old man in a wheelchair died as a result of a pedestrian-vehicle crash that happened on Wednesday, 12News reports.
The 73-year-old man, later identified as Ignacio Ramos Duarte, was crossing the intersection of 21st Street and Broadway Road when he was struck by a vehicle.
Police and EMS crews pulled up to the scene around 8 a.m. and determined that Duarte did not use a crosswalk.
Ambulance crews rushed Duarte to a hospital, where he later died.
Police said the driver did not exhibit signs of impairment.
