GLENDALE, AZ – A 68-year-old man died Sunday afternoon, May 18, after being struck by a vehicle while operating a motorcycle near West Valley’s Luke Air Force Base, according to AZ Family.
The accident happened in the area of Glendale Avenue and Dysart Road. Shortly before 5:00 p.m., Glendale Police had already responded to the scene.
Officials say the victim, a Glendale resident, was driving a motorcycle southbound on Dysart Road at the same time a driver in a Toyota Camry was traveling northbound on the road. The Camry, which appeared to have not yielded as it prepared to make a left turn onto Glendale Avenue, hit the motorcyclist.
First responders pronounced the rider deceased at the scene.
It’s unclear at this time how the driver of the Camry could be charged following the fatal crash, but he stayed to speak with investigators. As of this writing, speed and impairment do not appear to have contributed.
