PHOENIX, AZ – A 40-year-old man lost his life to a serious pedestrian collision that happened in the Vista De Oeste neighborhood on Thursday.
The 40-year-old man was jaywalking in the area of North 91st Avenue and Highland Avenue when he was struck by a vehicle, AZFamily reports. The crash took place around 8 p.m. and warranted a quick response from EMS crews who transported the pedestrian to a hospital, where he later died.
The pedestrian has been identified as Michael Cathcart.
Initial details reveal that the driver had fled the scene and then returned moments later when he released the physical condition Cathcart was left in.
Police released the driver and do not suspect impairment played a role in the crash.
The contributing factors have not been reported.
