News: Hit-and-run driver fatally collides with pedestrian near Village at West Meadow

GLENDALE, AZ – According to 12 News, a hit-and-run driver struck and killed a pedestrian at 59th Ave and W Camelback Rd on Saturday.

A pickup truck driver was heading north on 59th Ave when they ran a red light and collided with a male pedestrian. The driver did not stop and struck a car driving west on Camelback Rd before hitting a bus stop. The driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot, leaving a female in the passenger seat.

Rescue crews pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. They transported the pickup truck’s passenger to an area hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The two people in the car that was hit did not require hospitalization.

Authorities have identified but not apprehended the pickup truck driver as of Saturday night.
