PHOENIX, AZ – The Phoenix Police Department is investigating a deadly crash that happened near N 67th Ave and W Indian School Rd on Sunday, according to AZ Family.
Franciso Garcia, 40, was heading west on Indian School Rd when he rear-ended another vehicle around 2 a.m. The collision sent the other car crashing into a pole before rolling over.
Rescue crews pronounced a passenger in the vehicle that was rear-ended, Akua Mashavu Safiya Miggins, 36, dead at the scene. They transported that car’s driver to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Following the collision, Garcia fled the scene on foot.
Authorities arrested Garcia on Sunday and charged him with leaving the scene of a fatal collision, endangerment, and other charges.
