WILLIAMSON, AZ – According to FOX 10, the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deadly three-vehicle crash that happened near Williamson Valley Rd and Pioneer Pkwy on Wednesday.
A driver hit another vehicle while trying to pass it at a traffic light around noon. The impact sent the passing car crashing into a cement mixer.
The cement mixer driver tried to avoid hitting the vehicle but could not. The collision caused the car to go into a dirt shoulder, forcing the cement mixer to collide with a guard rail.
Rescue crews airlifted the driver of the passing car to an area hospital in critical condition. The driver’s wife lost her life on the way to the hospital.
Officials have not released the victims’s names.
Authorities do not believe impairment was a factor in the incident.
