News: Construction worker killed in collision on Loop 101 

GLENDALE, AZ – A construction worker lost his life to a collision that occurred on the westbound Loop 101 connecting to 35th Avenue on Thursday, Fox10Phoenix reports.

Preliminary details show that the construction worker was crossing the on-ramp to go to a construction work area on the interstate’s northbound shoulder when he was struck by another vehicle.

The crash happened around 5:15 a.m. and warranted a response from the Arizona Department of Public Safety and EMS crews. After arriving, troopers transported the construction worker to a hospital where he later died.

The victim has since been identified as Vicente Catellanos Rodriguez, 64, a Tolleson resident.

Authorities shut down the on-ramp for the scene clearance and investigation.

The driver remained at the scene and was spared citations and will not be facing any charges.
