SURPRISE, AZ – A driver of a passenger car had to go to the hospital after colliding with a garbage truck in Surprise on Wednesday, Fox10Phoenix said.
The two-vehicle crash happened before 8:30 a.m. at the intersection of North Reems Road and Waddell Road. Once the two vehicles crashed, the impact of that crash caused the trash truck to plow through the fence of a home’s backyard.
Fox10 Phoenix video footage showed that the car was left completely mangled and was in the process of being towed away by a garbage truck. The truck sustained minor damage, one example being a loosened tire.
The garbage truck appeared to belong to the City of Surprise. Crews were able to remove the garbage truck from the back of the home and put it into the shoulder.
Several police cars were at the scene of the crash, rendering aid and also helping with the flow of traffic.
The car driver’s physical condition has not been confirmed.
