News: Alleged impaired driver strikes, kills pedestrian near Phoenix Homesteads

PHOENIX, AZ – According to AZFamily, a suspected impaired driver fatally collided with a man near N 29th St and Thomas Rd on Saturday.

The driver hit Peter Klabanos, 46, as Klabanos was crossing Thomas Rd around 2:20 a.m.

Rescue crews performed life-saving measures on Klabanos before pronouncing him dead at the scene.

Following the collision, the driver stayed at the scene.

Authorities believed the driver displayed signs of impairment and processed them for DUI. They will decide whether or not to charge them depending on the toxicology report.
