News: Alleged DUI driver in custody after crash with Phoenix PD car 

PHOENIX, AZ – Phoenix police booked an alleged DUI driver into custody after crashing into a police cruiser in Del Monte Village Saturday.

Police told 12news that the collision happened around 11:30 p.m. in the area of North 43rd Avenue and McDowell Road. The suspected DUI motorist had struck a police cruiser parked at a crime scene before driving away from the scene.

A short time later, officers found and apprehended him. Officials have publicly identified him as 19-year-old Omar Andres Acosta Gonzalez.

Gonzalez was processed for DUI and expected to face several DUI-related charges.

Authorities confirmed the officer was inside their vehicle at the time of the crash and was spared from serious injuries.
