PHOENIX, AZ – A female motorist died Thursday morning in a crash involving two 18-wheelers on the interstate in west Phoenix, reports Fox 10 Phoenix.
The incident happened sometime before 5 a.m. on the eastbound side of I-10 near 59th Avenue, which is just west of the Arizona State Fairgrounds.
The investigation indicates that a semi-truck rear-ended a car, causing the car to collide with a second semi-truck. The car then caught fire, and the female driver died at the scene of the crash. Authorities have not yet released the name of the victim.
Neither truck driver sustained injuries in the crash.
Police say that the driver of the truck that rear-ended the car will be tested for impairment.
A full investigation is underway.
