News: 3 dead following wrong-way crash on AZ 87 in Fountain Hills

FOUNTAIN HILLS, AZ – Three people lost their lives when a wrong-way driver collided with another vehicle on AZ 87 NB near E Shea Blvd on Sunday, according to AZFamily.

A driver was heading south when they strayed into the northbound lanes and slammed into another vehicle around 4:30 a.m.

The three people who died were in the same vehicle. Both drivers suffered serious injuries.

Officials have not released the victims’s names.

Crews closed the area to clear the scene and investigate the crash. It was reopened around 2 p.m.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety is investigating the incident. It is unclear what charges the wrong-way driver could face.
