TEMPE, AZ – The two people injured in a single-vehicle collision at Priest Dr and Loop 202 on Sunday have died from their injuries, according to AZFamily.
Jackie Hollbrook, 70, was driving an SUV when he slammed into a traffic signal support pole around 5 p.m. The SUV caught on fire following the collision.
Bystanders extricated two people from the vehicle. A third person was trapped inside the SUV. Rescue crews pronounced that person dead at the scene.
First responders transported the two people who were extricated to area hospitals, where they died.
Authorities believe speed was a factor in the collision.
The Tempe Police Department is investigating the incident.
