MARICOPA, AZ – One person died and another was sent to a hospital following a head-on collision on State Route 347 on Friday, Arizona Family reports.
The collision occurred around 8:15 p.m. near Sonoran Desert Parkway. The impact of the crash left two drivers entrapped or pinned inside their vehicle, requiring extrication performed by Maricopa fire crews.
Firefighters confirmed that one person succumbed to their injuries while the extrication took place. The other driver survived and was transported to a hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.
Maricopa Police also responded to the scene.
The Pinal County Vehicular Crimes Unit will be leading the investigation.
