News: 1 killed, another critically hurt in head-on crash in Apache Junction 

APACHE JUNCTION, AZ – One person lost their life and another was left in critical condition as a result of a head-on crash on U.S. 60 along Goldfield Road Friday. 

Arizona Department of Public Safety and Superstition Fire responded to the scene after 9 p.m., according to AZ Family. The impact of the head-on crash entrapped or pinned two people, requiring extrication done by firefighters. 

One person succumbed to their injuries at the scene, and another was taken to a hospital for treatment of critical, life-threatening injuries.  

DPS started an investigation. While details remain preliminary, they suspect impairment may have been a contributing factor in the deadly collision. 

Officials shut down the area for around an hour for the clean-up process and investigation.
