MESA, AZ – One person lost their life, and another was injured in a wrong-way collision that occurred on Loop 202 Red Mountain Monday.
The motorist who was traveling the wrong way was the one to suffer fatal injuries, while the other driver was hospitalized for life-threatening injuries, ABC 15 confirmed in a report.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety issued a several-hour long shut down for all westbound lanes near Stapley Drive so that crews could clean up the scene and troopers could investigate the details behind the deadly crash.
All lanes have since reopened. Officials have not disclosed the deceased individual’s name or confirmed why they were driving the wrong way.
