PHOENIX, AZ – A woman was arrested following a pursuit-turned-collision that injured several people, including two children, on Saturday, AZFamily reports.
The incident unfolded before 6 p.m. when a female driver crashed into a police cruiser in the area of West Southern Avenue and South 35th Avenue and sped off. A pursuit was initiated and ended when she crashed into three other vehicles at the intersection of South 67th Avenue and West Lower Buckeye Road.
Dash camera footage shared by an eyewitness shows that the woman’s pickup truck overturned several times before hitting the other vehicles.
Several people, including two children and the female driver, identified as Esmeralda Galindo-Monje, were sent to the hospital. One woman is still in the hospital recovering from serious injuries, while her two children and Galindo-Monje were later released.
Galindo-Monje sustained non-life-threatening injuries, first responders confirmed.
Police arrested Galindo-Monje and booked him into jail. She is being charged with “false reporting to law enforcement, endangerment, aggravated assault, unlawful flight from law enforcement, and aggravated DUI.”
