PHOENIX, AZ – Law enforcement has arrested a 44-year-old man responsible for causing a fatal wrong-way crash last Tuesday.
According to an update from AZ Family, the man was identified as Joseph Rollins from Phoenix. The Arizona Department of Public Safety confirmed Rollins’ BAC was at 0.246.
The events unraveled after midnight when Rollins, driving a Subaru, drove east on westbound Loop 202 and sideswiped a Hyundai vehicle and then crashed head-on into a Kia sedan. Rollins’ vehicle flipped over, and the Hyundai driver crashed into a concrete wall.
The Kia driver, 21-year-old Emma Huckleberry, died from her injuries at the scene.
Rollins was hospitalized for non-life-threatening injuries. He was released from the hospital and booked on second-degree homicide charges and issued a probation warrant.
Police are still searching for the Hyundai driver who did not stay at the scene.
