News: Troopers investigate deadly crash near Coronado Commerceplex

PHOENIX, AZ – According to AZFamily, the Arizona Department of Public Safety is investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that happened on the ramp from Loop 202 South Mountain NB to I-10 EB on Sunday.

Angel Ramirez Zapien, 19, was driving a Ford Mustang when he hit the impact attenuator around 5 a.m. The collision split the Mustang in half. Zapien’s seatbelt ripped, and they were thrown from the vehicle during the crash.

Emergency crews shut down the area to process the scene. The area was reopened around 8 a.m.

It is unclear if impairment or speed were factors in the collision.
