APACHE JUNCTION, AZ – The Arizona Department of Public Safety believes a trash truck tire blew out, which ultimately led to a head-on crash that sent one person to the hospital.
DPS told Arizona Family the truck driver was going west on U.S. 60 when they experienced the tire failure, causing them to leave the westbound lane, veer into the eastbound one, and crash head-on into a passenger vehicle. This incident happened around 2 p.m. on Friday near Ironwood Drive and warranted an ambulance response.
EMS crews hurried to the scene and rushed a person in the passenger vehicle to the ER for treatment of serious injuries.
Authorities told drivers in the area to expect delays as crews worked to clean up debris from the crash and restore safe road conditions.
