PHOENIX, AZ – A teen driver was allegedly impaired when he fatally collided with a bicyclist near Cave Creek Rd and Dynamite Blvd on Monday, according to AZFamily.
An 18-year-old male was driving a GMC Terrain south on Cave Creek Rd when he looked at his radio. When the driver looked up, he saw Michael Hutchinson, 37, riding a bicycle. The teen collided with Hutchinson around 11:30 p.m.
Following the collision, the driver called 911.
Rescue crews pronounced Hutchinson dead at the scene.
The driver’s speed and BAC are unknown.
Crews closed Cave Creek Rd to investigate the incident.
Authorities may charge the teen when they receive the results of a toxicology report and crash reconstruction.
