News: Several hurt following wrong-way crash on AZ 101 Lp in Scotssdale

SCOTTSDALE, AZ – According to AZ Family, ten people were hurt in a seven-vehicle collision caused by a wrong-way driver fleeing from police on AZ 101 Loop near E Chaparral Rd on Tuesday.

A trooper attempted to pull over a pickup truck driver heading north on AZ 101 Lp for a traffic violation near E Chaparral Rd when the driver sped off.

The trooper performed a PIT maneuver on the suspect around two miles into the chase. The maneuver caused the suspect’s pickup truck to spin around facing south. The pickup truck driver then proceeded to head south in the northbound lanes of traffic.

The suspect drove two miles south on AZ Lp 101 when they collided with six other vehicles before rolling over onto their roof.

Rescue crews transported the two people in the suspect’s truck and eight others to an area hospital for injuries ranging from minor to serious.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety is investigating the incident.
