News: RV driver hits bicyclist on Lake Mary Rd in Flagstaff

FLAGSTAFF, AZ – Six people were hurt in an auto vs. bicycle collision on Lake Mary Rd on Saturday, according to AZ Family.

Dane Wallace was biking with a group called “Team Pay and Take” when a passing RV hit him in the head with its side mirror. This caused Wallace to tumble into the path of several bicyclists.

Rescue crews transported three of the six injured bicyclists to area hospitals. One of the bicyclists had surgery over the weekend. Wallace has scapula surgery scheduled for Wednesday.

Following the collision, the RV driver remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.

It is unclear precisely where on Lake Mary Rd the incident happened.

Bicyclists frequently sustain serious injuries following accidents because bikes afford no protection to soften an impact.
