TEMPE, AZ – According to AZ Family, a person died in a wrong-way collision near W Southern Ave and S Priest Dr Wednesday.
A sports car driver was speeding when they strayed into oncoming traffic and hit a van head-on around 2:30 p.m. A third car then collided with the vehicles.
Rescue crews pronounced a passenger from the sports car dead at the scene of the accident. They transported the sports car driver and the van driver to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Nobody inside the third vehicle was harmed in the collision.
Authorities believe the sports car driver was impaired.
