News: Pickup strikes, kills child in central Maricopa Co.

BUCKEYE, AZ – A 4-year-old boy died Saturday afternoon in Buckeye after a pickup truck struck him as the boy attempted to cross the street, reports abc15 Arizona.

The incident happened around noon near the intersection of West Yuma Road and South Watson Road, which is just southeast of I-10.

The full circumstances of the crash are still under investigation, but police say a truck hit the boy in a crosswalk.

Medics transported the child to a local hospital, where he died from injuries sustained in the accident.

The driver remained at the scene of the crash, and police do not currently suspect impairment.
