News: Officer hurt following 2-vehicle collision in Laveen

PHOENIX, AZ -A Gila River Indian Community police officer was hurt in a two-vehicle crash on Loop 202 South Mountain near Baseline Rd on Thursday, according to CBS 5.

A Gila River Police Department patrol SUV collided with another vehicle around 2:30 a.m.

Rescue crews transported the officer to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Following the collision, the driver and passenger of the other vehicle attempted to flee the scene on foot but were detained shortly afterward.

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident. They believe alcohol played a role in the collision.
