NEW RIVER, AZ – According to AZFamily, a man has pleaded guilty to a fatal hit-and-run collision that occurred near North Seventh Avenue and East Cloud Road on February 24, 2024.
Jacob Andrew Moore, 22, was driving a pickup truck when he struck Lisa Mancuso, 43, as she was jogging along the shoulder around 10 a.m.
Moore returned to the scene but fled after being confronted by witnesses.
First responders pronounced Mancuso dead at the scene.
Following the collision, Moore went home and went to sleep. Moore had been drinking from 11 p.m. to 8 a.m.
The next day, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office released a surveillance photo of the truck that struck Mancuso. Moore’s father, a Phoenix police officer, called the police and told them his son may be the suspect. Moore turned himself in.
Moore pleaded guilty to manslaughter and leaving the scene of a serious physical injury accident. The plea deal is that Moore will spend four years in prison and have to pay restitution. He will be placed on supervised probation once released.
