PHOENIX, AZ – A 25-year-old man received a seven-year prison sentence on Tuesday after causing a fatal crash that happened in March of last year.
The 25-year-old man, Griffin Kjar, received the sentence after he pleaded guilty to endangerment and manslaughter, according to 12News. Kjar will also receive three years of probation.
Kjar was allegedly traveling at a high rate of 77 mph and had a blood alcohol content of 0.093 when he collided with two vehicles in the area of 23rd Avenue and Happy Valley Road, according to court records that were filed after he was arrested. One of the vehicle occupants, later identified as 23-year-old Leo Kelly, died from his injuries.
Kelly’s family did pursue legal action in relation to the fatal crash one year later, the source added.
