PHOENIX, AZ – A hit-and-run driver collided with and injured two people near N 43rd Ave and Thomas Rd on Saturday, according to AZFamily.
Sergio Bautista, 29, was allegedly driving a pickup truck when he hit a man and a woman as they were crossing the road around 1:45 a.m. Bautista then reportedly fled the scene.
Paramedics transported the two people to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Bautista was driving south in the northbound lanes on 43rd Ave. when he nearly collided with a patrol officer in a car.
The officer caught up to Bautista and pulled him over. The officer arrested Bautista and determined he was impaired. He was charged with leaving the scene of a collision, aggravated DUI, and aggravated assault.
