News: Driver rams cars, runs over people in crime spree throughout Tempe

TEMPE, AZ – A driver is accused of ramming multiple cars and running over a man in a crime spree throughout Tempe before being arrested at S 48th St and E Broadway Rd Sunday, according to AZ Family.

The crime spree began when Lynn Camplin, Jr., 48, was driving a pickup truck and tried to ram another vehicle on Priest Dr. He then went into the Arizona Mills parking lot when he slammed into a Corvette on the driver’s side. The collision trapped the driver inside the Corvette. Emergency crews extricated the Corvette driver to an area hospital with a brain bleed.

Camplin left the parking lot and collided with a vehicle occupied by two people before going back onto Priest Dr. He entered a parking lot at 48th St and Southern Ave, where he rear-ended a Nissan Sentra. Camplin also threw rocks at three people’s vehicles at 48th St and Broadway Rd.

Sometime between ramming cars and throwing rocks, Camplin ran over a man. He exited his vehicle, approached the victim, picked him up and threw him back onto the ground.

Authorities eventually located Camplin and arrested him. They transported Camplin to an area hospital. It was determined Camplin was under the influence of drugs. Authorities charged Camplin with one count of aggravated DUI, one count of deadly aggravated assault, one count of endangerment, two counts of hit-and-run, three counts of criminal damage, and four counts of aggravated assault.
