BUCKEYE, AZ – According to 12 News, an 18-year-old female died when a driver crashed into a tree near N Verrado Way and W Main St on Thursday night.
An officer tried to stop a car that passed through a stop sign when the driver sped off around 10 p.m.
Another officer saw the car speeding without headlights on. The 18-year-old driver then slammed into a tree.
Rescue crews transported the 18-year-old driver and a 15-year-old passenger to an area hospital. They pronounced another passenger, Yaritza Vasquez, 18, dead at the scene.
The Buckeye Police Department is investigating the incident.
