News: Driver fatally collides with box truck in northwest Phoenix

PHOENIX, AZ – According to AZFamily, a man died after a driver collided with a box truck at N 33rd Ave and Grand Ave Tuesday night.

Yusuf Munir, 54, was inside the box truck that was stopped on the road with emergency cones around the construction area when a driver slammed into the truck around 11 p.m.

First responders transported Munir to an area hospital, where he died. The driver who hit the truck was hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities determined the driver who hit the truck was impaired. He will face DUI-related charges.

Crews shut down the area to process the scene. The area was reopened around 4:30 a.m.
